This summer, we made the 13-hour drive to Missouri for a Table Rock Lake summer vacation — and it was absolutely worth every mile! 🚗✨ We broke up the trip with a few fun stops along the way and discovered some awesome spots that made the journey just as memorable as the destination.
🏙️ St. Louis, Missouri – BBQ, The Arch & More
Our first stop was St. Louis, arriving just in time for lunch. We couldn’t resist digging into some famous St. Louis BBQ at Salt + Smoke in the The Field District — and it did not disappoint! 🍖😋 Before sitting down, we took a stroll through Ballpark Village and got a quick peek at Busch Stadium, soaking in the energy of the area.
After lunch, we took a short stroll over to the Gateway Arch National Park, one of the most iconic landmarks in the Midwest and an absolute must-visit when in St. Louis. We booked our tickets to ride up to the top of the arch online ahead of time made the whole process incredibly smooth — and I highly recommend doing this, especially during busy seasons, since time slots can sell out days in advance. Tickets start out at around $15 for adults and $11 for children.
Before heading to the top, we explored the Arch Museum which is free and watched a Virtual Reality film about St. Louis and the construction of the Arch — a quick, fascinating 10-minute experience the kids absolutely loved ($8 for adults and $5 for kids)! 🎬✨

From there, it was about a 3-hour drive to our lakefront home for the week: Serenity Shores.
🏡 Serenity Shores Resort : The Perfect Family Stay for a Table Rock Lake Summer Vacation
Wow — what a place! 😍 Serenity Shores is a beautiful lakeside community with about 40 houses and townhomes. The amenities were incredible — docks, kayaks, canoes, pontoon rentals, two pools plus a splash pad and slide, , putt-putt, pickleball, basketball, a game room and more! 🎾⛳🏀
We came with a big family group for a birthday, and it was the perfect setup for everyone to relax, play, and spend time together.
We kicked things off with a pickleball match (of course!) — the perfect way to settle into vacation mode and enjoy some friendly family competition. From there, the rhythm of the week quickly fell into place, and most of our days were spent either on the lake, in the lake, or relaxing by the pool. It was the kind of slow, easy schedule that makes lake vacations so special — no rushing, just time together and plenty of sunshine. ☀️💦
Table Rock Lake was absolutely beautiful — clear, calm water surrounded by rolling Ozark hills and endless coves to explore. We spent hours boating, tubing, and anchoring in quiet spots where the kids could jump in and swim. Some afternoons were as simple as floating in the water, soaking up the sun, and enjoying the peaceful surroundings. It was the perfect mix of adventure and relaxation, and exactly what summer lake memories are made of.

🌅 Evening at Big Cedar Lodge on Table Rock Lake Summer Vacation
One evening, we headed over to Big Cedar Lodge for their 2.5 mile golf cart nature tour. 🚙🌿 The tour was such a fun way to explore, and we stopped at Osage Restaurant with a gorgeous view of the Ozarks — absolutely stunning! 🌄
One evening, we headed over to Big Cedar Lodge for their famous 2.5-mile golf cart nature tour — and it ended up being one of the highlights of our trip. 🚙🌿 The self-guided drive along the Lost Canyon Cave and Nature Trail winds through beautiful Ozark scenery, with waterfalls, rock formations, and scenic overlooks around every turn. It was such a fun and relaxing way to explore, especially after a full day on the lake.
The trail eventually led us to Osage Restaurant, where we paused to take in the incredible panoramic views of the Ozark Mountains. The overlook was absolutely stunning, especially as the sun began to lower, casting warm light across the hills.
We also took about an hour and visited the Ancient Ozarks Natural History Museum (as admission came with the golf cart tour tickets), located right at Big Cedar Lodge. The museum was beautifully done, with fascinating exhibits on Ozark history, Native American culture, and wildlife. It was engaging for both kids and adults, and a great way to balance outdoor adventure with something educational.
Between the scenic golf cart ride, the cave stop, the breathtaking views, and the museum visit, Big Cedar Lodge offered so much more than we expected — and it’s something we would absolutely do again.

🎭 A Day in Branson on our Table Rock Lake Family Vacation
We took one day to explore Branson, just a short drive from Serenity Shores. July in the Ozarks was definitely HOT 🔥, so we arrived to the Branson Landing area late morning and ducked into shops and restaurants to stay cool. We enjoyed a relaxed lunch at Bricktown Brewery browsed some of the local stores along the strip, and let the kids pick out a few souvenirs. Branson has such a fun, lively atmosphere — part classic vacation town, part family entertainment hub — and there’s always something happening.
The highlight of Branson was seeing The Haygoods perform, and it completely exceeded our expectations. The show was packed with incredible music, high-energy dancing, and impressive special effects that kept everyone engaged from start to finish. The performers play multiple instruments and constantly change things up, so it never slows down. It was entertaining for both kids and adults, and easily one of the most memorable parts of our time near Table Rock Lake. 🎶

🎆 4th of July Celebration at Serenity Shores
The timing of our trip couldn’t have been better — we were there for the 4th of July! 🇺🇸 The resort hosted a pool party night complete with pizza, games, and an epic fireworks show. It was such a fun and festive night surrounded by family. 🎇🍕💙

🦌 Bonus Stop: Springfield, Missouri
On our drive home, we made one last pit stop in Springfield, Missouri to visit the very first Bass Pro Shops — and wow! This place was massive! 🐟🏹 The kids loved exploring the attached Wonders of Wildlife Museum, and it was the perfect way to end our road trip adventure.
On our drive home, we made one last pit stop in Springfield to visit the original Bass Pro Shops Outdoor World — and wow, it was massive! 🐟🏹 This isn’t just a store, it’s a full experience. Inside, there were huge aquariums filled with native fish, wildlife displays, boats, and outdoor gear everywhere you looked. The kids loved walking across the bridges over the fish tanks and spotting turtles and massive bass swimming below.
Connected right next door is the incredible Wonders of Wildlife National Museum and Aquarium, which ended up being the highlight of the stop. The museum is beautifully designed, with immersive exhibits, detailed wildlife displays, and massive aquariums featuring animals from around the world. It was engaging for all ages, and the kids especially loved walking through the aquarium tunnels surrounded by fish. It was such a fun and memorable way to wrap up our road trip — one last adventure before heading home, and the perfect ending to an unforgettable week at the lake.
