⛷️ Okemo Mountain Resort: Your Family Ski Adventure

Every year, our family makes time for a ski trip, and this year we set our sights on Okemo Mountain Resort in Ludlow, Vermont. About eight and a half hours from Cleveland, Ohio, Okemo is perfect for families looking for a mix of thrilling slopes, beginner-friendly runs, and plenty of family fun off the mountain. With the Epic Pass in hand, we were ready for a four-day winter getaway.

🏡 Where to Stay

For this trip, we stayed in a cozy Airbnb about 20 minutes from Okemo. The snowy backyard was a huge hit with the kids, who loved sledding after skiing each day.

In previous trips, we stayed on-site at Jackson Gore Village, which is great for families wanting ski-in/ski-out access, easy drop-offs at ski school, and childcare. Staying at the resort also makes après-ski activities, like swimming and ice skating, super convenient.

Group of family members seated around a long oak dining table playing Yahtzee — four children on the left rolling dice and filling scorecards, two adults on the right watching and sipping wine, with the red Yahtzee box visible near the table's end.

🎿 Skiing at Okemo

Okemo Mountain Resort has an elevation of 3,344 feet and 123 trails suitable for all skill levels:

  • 32% beginner
  • 37% intermediate
  • 23% advanced
  • 8% expert

The resort gets about 200 inches of annual snowfall and has excellent snowmaking, keeping conditions consistent throughout the season.

We loved exploring the Jackson Gore side, which has long blue and black runs. Beginner trails are also available throughout the resort making this an ideal place for skiers of all ages and levels.

🧒 Lessons & Childcare

Okemo makes it easy for families to enjoy the slopes while kids learn new skills. The ski school has small group lessons and private options, with children grouped by age and ability.

Group Lessons:

  • Ages 3–4: Full-day lesson with lunch — $295
  • Ages 5–6: Full-day lessons with lunch $295
  • Ages 7–14: Full-day lessons with lunch — $295

Private Lessons are also available for all ages.

For younger kids, Okemo also offers child care for children 18 months to 4 years, with real-time updates via the resort app.

Pro Tip: Epic Pass holders get 20% off lessons, and booking in advance saves both time and money. Download the Epic app for seamless lift access—your ticket can be scanned right from your phone.

🍹 Après-Ski Fun

Evenings were spent unwinding at our rental, cooking family dinners, playing cards, watching movies, and sledding in the backyard. For a special meal, we stopped at The Vermont Butcher Shop to pick up steaks for a memorable family feast.

For families staying on-site, Jackson Gore Lodge offers a mountain coaster, swimming, ice skating, and cozy dining options, making après-ski fun easy and accessible.

Okemo is also just an hour from Mount Snow, giving families the option to explore multiple Vermont resorts in one trip.

💛 Why Families Will Love Okemo

  • Trails for all skill levels, with plenty of beginner/intermediate/advanced options
